I honestly couldn’t tell you how long I’ve been a loyal fan of Soap, the four piece dance-infused rock outfit originally from Chicago and now based out of Minneapolis. Let’s just say I have a lot of very old video footage “in the vault,” and I wish I had additional copies of their first few albums still sealed. Ross Taylor’s (bass/lead vocals) little sister Maggie originally turned me onto the band, long before I’ve ever heard of Phish. Before I had my drivers license, Maggie’s mom Peg would transport us to small venues in neighboring towns to catch the band perform. As time went by, us loyal listeners matured (and we gained the ability to drive ourselves)… soon, out of state shows and festivals became the place to catch Soap throw down. So naturally it was quite exciting to hear they would be performing at Summer Camp 2013, and again in 2014, my first year as a Camp Counselor! Sensing a great opportunity to introduce SCampers to one of my favorite bands, I asked them to take some time out of their day at the festival to sit and talk with me… and it’s with great pleasure that I can now share that footage – enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm6fHkEKD3I It’s been exciting watching them grow from doing small local shows at the Peotone Bowling Alley, Suzapalooza and Wilton Center Hall all the way up to Summer Camp Music Festival. The evolution of their sound and stage presence has been exhilarating to watch unfold over the years, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!]]>
