Mudcrutch. Get to know that name and learn all about them as they are one of your Summer Camp 2016 Headliners!
Mudcrutch is a Southern Rock band hailing from Gainesville, Florida. Formed in 1970, the band consists of Tom Petty (bass and vocals), Tom Leadon (guitar and vocals), Jim Lenehan (lead vocals), Randall Marsh (drums) and Mike Campbell (guitar), and Benmont Tench (keyboards). The band played for a good 5 years before going on a hiatus in 1975. Returning with full force in 2007, Mudcrutch is ready to take Summer Camp on an epic night of powerful Southern Rock! I for one haven’t been able to stop listening to them. One of my favorite tracks of theirs is Shady Grove off of their 2008 self-titled album. Their rendition of it had me smiling ear to ear picturing them on the big stage this year! Give it a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_0-LBvwbYw Believe it or not, their self-titled Album ( Mudcrutch, 2008 ) was their first ever recorded album. In the early 70s, Mudcrutch recorded and released multiple singles and demos, but never an album. Mudcrutch entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number eight, selling about 38,000 copies in its first week. Not bad after not playing together in 32 years! It has also been noted that they have begun working on a new album this past August. After the album was finished, the band went on a short tour in California from April to May of 2008. Check out this clip from that tour when they stopped at the Fillmore in San Francisco: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBgOqKXUPMo It’s pretty safe to say I’m BEYOND stoked for Mudcrutch to play at this years Summer Camp, and YOU SHOULD BE TO! Just listening to some of their sets from previous years, I think they are going to bring their A game with plenty of originals and covers to blow your mind! When talking about some of their previous shows, Mike Campbell is quoted as saying,“I hope we get to do that again. For me, as a guitar player, that was like heaven. We can do songs we don’t normally do and each night can be a different setlist. We can do a Chuck Berry song, a J.J. Cale one or anything we like. That might be harder on the singer, but for me it’s a piece of cake. As to whether we ever do anything like that again, we’ll have to wait and see.”And just as he said, we will have to wait and see!]]>
