A big day for Midwest Griz Fam today: the “saxy” Detroit DJ/producer, GRiZ, will officially return to Summercamp the first time since 2016! His most recent “Ride Waves” album and tour were all about new funk, sax and dubstep sound with important messages about peace, love, and unity. The socially-conscious, philanthropic sax-player and music partner, Muzzy Bearr, contributes to music education programs, promotes general wellness through self-improvement, and demonstrates the importance of showing and spreading love. Griz also dropped a new song, “Could U”, last week: a new house track perhaps gives us a taste of what we have to look forward to.
Another big addition today is Marvel Years, a young, hybrid artist who brings a different energy to the DJ table. Not only is he a great glitch hop, electro-funk, and future rock producer, Marvel Years shreds during his live performances, playing guitar while mixing live. His newest song with SoDown, “Hold On” is a great example of how his guitar-playing takes a song to the next level, and it’s only better live… (Nikstagraham can confirm: it’s lit!).
Our next feature artist hits the spot. Not only a skilled “kendama” (cup and ball toy) player, Boogie T is a piano player, guitar player, and vocalist. Known for heavy bass, riddim, and an extensive list of EDM collabs, he is truly an all-star in the festival scene. Since Summercamp is home to jam bands and some of the best instrumentalists, it’s only fitting we get a solo set and live band set! Boogie T.rio, as the three-piece band is cleverly-named, will also perform this year, featuring a set with live drums, keyboards, and synth bass. Dig mimosas? So does Boogie T… perhaps we’ll catch up over a boozy, brunch-beverage in the VIP Lounge this year?
Step over, gents. Another queen is about to make her SCamp debut one to remember! Canadian producer/DJ, Whipped Cream was just announced on the Phase 2 artist announcement. This lady-boss is one of the top-ranked dubstep acts in the game and surpasses her male colleagues in the number of followers she has, and song plays on SoundCloud & Spotify! Her sets are fun, heady, and high-energy; perfect for getting your rage on. Now producing under Deadbeats’ label, Whipped Cream is the cherry on top of the EDM artists added to the line-up this week.
