My 1,910.25 mile journey to Summer Camp… On a Greyhound.

I encountered 3 people who had lost their luggage on my trip and I was pretty stern the entire time we stopped or had a transfer. Unless you have a transfer with a layover, each rest stop is about 5-15 minutes. Most of which are either at a gas station or McDonalds. I’m a vegan, so food options are limited. I’d pack snacks for sure. Speaking of transfers, I had a layover in Denver. It was my first time in a state where marijuana was legal and the vibe was quite nice. It just seemed refreshing. Like a dream I once had came to fruition. My layover wasn’t long and I was in line waiting to get on the next bus. I came across a lone traveler who was in somewhat of a state of confusion. We locked eyes and asked me if I was in line.. My response, “Summer Camp?” I just knew. Maybe I could sense his intention, or maybe it was the huge backpacking bag full of camping gear. Either way, I had found a buddy to travel with on the way to Scamp and it made the trip a whole lot more interesting. 10292339_10201623537383400_505509244835731820_n He had a group he was meeting up with in Peoria and my previous plans of getting from Peoria to Chillicothe were pretty much up in the air. I was either going to hitchhike or catch a cab but instead was invited to join their group. So not only did I find a ride from Peoria to Chillicothe, but I also had a hotel to stay in Wednesday night that was less than a mile from Three Sisters Park. Oh the things you will find when being a Scamper! Prior to the festival we ate at One World Cafe in Peoria and I absolutely loved the place! Great vegan options and they had some very cool art as well as respectable service. For years on, this will be on my list of things to do on my yearly Summer Camp vacation. You gotta check it out! foooood After a good nights sleep at the hotel we walked to Three Sisters Park with the pleasant surprise of having a couple people in our group who secured a spot. This wasn’t just a spot. We were the first in line! It was amazing! Couldn’t ask for more and we zipped right in. friendswait This journey to Summer Camp was truly epic and I made some great memories and even fonder friends. I believe the universe will provide everything you need as long as your intention is harmonious and proper faith is given to it. This will probably be my last trek to Summer Camp via Greyhound but I had quite the experience doing so.
