Camp Counselor Nick Checks In From "Umphrey's Mondays" in Denver

Umphrey’s Mondays, a Denver event that celebrates all things McGee, really seems to be establishing itself as THE monthly gathering for true fans of Umphrey’s in Colorado. I myself have made it twice in the last few months (read my review of Summer Camp’s “Invasion” of Umphrey’s Mondays back in December here), and this March’s event was every bit as fun and inspiring as the last.   This time around we screened the TourGigs.com recording of Umphrey’s recent show from The Fabulous Fox Theater on 3/7/15 – a treat we were lucky to experience, as the show hasn’t yet been released to the general public! The night’s raffle benefitted Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners, Colorado’s 24/7 free resource for any mental health and substance abuse issue. They sent along several spokespeople, and it was clear to everyone there that we needed to support the work they are doing in our community. The Umphreaks in attendance did just that, and by the end of the night the event had raised nearly $1000 for RMCP.

  The event’s partners were supportive as always, and there was a massive array of raffle prizes from which to choose – everything from tickets to Summer Camp to rides to Red Rocks this summer from J2G Live and Drive On Productions. Also up for grabs was a bike bar tour from Pedal Hopper Denver (yes, that’s a bar that is powered by the feet of boozing patrons), tickets to see Umph or Gramatik at Red Rocks, to a Colorado Rockies game, and more. All in all over $2,100 worth of prizes were awarded – if you guys haven’t yet made it to one of these, you’re obviously missing out! In fact… Umphrey’s Mondays has a quick turnaround this month, and they’ll be hosting another rager on this upcoming Monday – this time an Album Release Party for The London Sessions. As always it will be at The 1up Barcade on Colfax in Denver – head down and join in the fun!   Umphrey’s Mondays is exactly the sort of event that makes Colorado a great place to live – likeminded fans gathering to enjoy themselves, do some good, and have some fun. And with more and more midwest transplants heading our way daily, these parties are only going to get better. I’m happy to be a part of it, and I tip my cap to the team making it happen – it’s an incredible event. ]]>
