Camp Counselor Kyle joins moe. as they kick off their 25th Anniversary Tour in Buffalo!

For me, moe. is one of those bands that is always an the top of their game. I had the pleasure to catch the first two SOLD OUT nights of their 25th Anniversary Tour in Buffalo last weekend, and in what I hope is a preview of what’s to come this Memorial Day Weekend at the 15th Annual Summer Camp Music Festival, they proved once again that they are far better than just “okay, alright”! Generally when a band comes through a city for a two or more night run, each night is pretty different. Last year when moe. came to Buffalo, for example, Saturday night was the rager. Well this year, both were mind-blowing. Having the benefit of a photo pass, I was lucky enough to get the chance to sneak a peak at the set list before the band took the stage. It felt like I was cheating, but in that moment of anticipation, my heart racing, I couldn’t help myself… The lights went dark and the crowd cheered in excitement for what’s to come – a spine-tingling moment you know well if you’ve seen a band at this level indoors before. The first song up was Y.O.Y., a fun way to start the run… and their set one closer set the bar even higher with a raging Rebubula! Night one set list:

Set I: Y.O.Y. > Skrunk > Down Boy, Little Miss Cup Half Empty, Rebubula > Yodelittle > Rebubula

Set II: Captain America > Puebla > Bullet > Wormwood > Deep This Time, Jazz Wank > Buster

Encore: Farmer Ben > Tom Sawyer

I will have to say, that encore was amazing. Farmer Ben into Tom Sawyer made me smile. Another personal highlight – everyone has come to know (and love) when Al reads the cards that fans throw at his feet or hand him prior to the show. On this special Friday night, a guy proposed to his girlfriend right up front – it was an awesome moment! [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="594"]10941846 712442612204628 2899064006336292630 n Rob Derhak live at the Town Ballroom[/caption] Night two was equally as awesome – it was incredible to feel the anticipation just as intense a second time around. Arriving to the venue and seeing so many of the same smiling faces again was a treat, and before even getting inside, and I had that unbelievable feeling usually reserved for festivals in my stomach. Instantly, I thought of Summer Camp’s upcoming 5 sets of moe… i can’t wait! Some more of my photos from the two night run…
The band started night two’s first set off with Annihilation Blues from their new album, “No Guts, No Glory”. Second Night Set List:

Set I: Annihilation Blues, Same Old Story, Silver Sun >(nh) Water, Big World > Ricky Marten > Timmy Tucker

Set II: Brent Black* > CalifornIA > Opium > The Other One > Moth > 32 Things

Encore: Wind It Up

Ultimately, both shows were amazing, and living in a cold place like Buffalo makes it particularly nice to get out and dance like a maniac to one of the finest bands in jam! I left feeling an incredible buzz, and nothing but anticipation for my next moe. show. Can’t wait until Summer Camp to see them? I’m with you!
