I have seen moe. so many times I have long lost count! So when I get the chance to see Vinnie Amico of moe. kill it on drums with Floodwood, I get extra excited!
There is something undeniable about bluegrass and the way that it makes you dance. It’s that foot stomping feel good music that keeps you moving from start to finish, and Floodwood is no exception. This was the first time I have seen them since their lineup change, and they are just as phenomenal live as they always have been.
It was actually a very refreshing show for me. I have lived in Buffalo my whole life, with Vinnie even living here for 10 years… yet this was the first time I visited Sportsmens Tavern. Vinnie mentioned he has been playing Buffalo for so long and this was only his 2nd time there. It was an awesome venue with seating downstairs and up in the balcony. What was different from this show then other times they have played Buffalo was the crowd. Typically, you see your regular festival friends. This venue brought in a different older crowd, and it was really cool to be a part of. It was super relaxed and so cool to see an older crowd enjoying Floodwood so much. I was very surprised when I walked in and felt like I was the wrong place, but it kicked ass.
Floodwood came on around 9:30 and played for 2.5 hours with a short set break. Seriously one of the best sets of theirs I have seen, though I feel I always say that the most recent time I see them.
I had the chance to sit down with Vinnie after the show! We talked about Summer Camp, their lineup change, and more! Check it out:
