This became even more of an issue when we found out that the people who orchestrated all of the breathtaking light shows did not appreciate an obstruction of their view. So I have set forth to provide some solutions to this epidemic… here, in no particular order, are some “Alternatives to the Party Stick” for you to consider as we head in to the Festival Season.
Walkie Talkies
Cheap walkie talkies are a great way to stay connected with your crew throughout the weekend. They are also great if your crew isn’t camping together so you can communicate between campsites. Friends often get separated between stages and a walkie talkie can help you reconnect along the way. Not to mention it is a great way for you to stay informed with major festival developments as they unfold, such as epic sit ins or impromptu jam sessions.Pre-Determined Meeting Points
Have your crew agree on a meeting point at every stage and try to meet there before every show. Your campsite is also a great place to stop in between sets of music, especially because camping conveniently located between stages. Agree on a place and a time if you are really concerned with meeting up with everyone for a specific show like headliners or late nights. For example, my crew meets about twenty feet in front of the soundboard whenever Umphrey’s performs at Summer Camp. There is always enough space to dance and the sound is usually best from that spot.Someone Else’s Party Stick
