Camp Counselor Bailey warms up for SCamp16 with Here Come the Mummies and FUNK TREK!

Here Come the Mummies! The opening act of the evening was a Summer Camp 2014 artist, Funk Trek. This 7-piece high-energy funk fusion group based out of Omaha is a force to be reckoned with! With a jazz/rock twist, Funk Trek is a unique act that will take you on a musical journey unlike any other. This group performs technical, original music that will get any music lover moving their feet and is a surefire way to get the party started!

As any great funk group, Funk Trek has a top-notch horn section, an incredible keyboardist, and a great guitarist and drummer. However, one of the most captivating parts of this group is the bass player. He has so much energy and is constantly bouncing around the stage creating a visual aspect that it is very entertaining to the fans. Overall, it is very apparent that these guys have a natural chemistry, as their music is creative and technical while maintaining a tight and crisp sound. These funk masters are constantly dancing, jumping, and running around the stage, all while singing and playing their instruments flawlessly. The entire show is non-stop energy, and if you look away for even a moment, you’re bound to miss something exciting. The whole ordeal is silly, but every single song gets me feeling upbeat and keeps me smiling from ear to ear all night long! Their anthem “Freak Flag” encourages everyone to come as they are, be who you want to be, and to spread the love…and this is just one reason why the Mummies fit right in perfectly at Summer Camp!
