Camp Counselor Alex reviews Nahko & MFTP on their "Water is Life" tour.

Having thoroughly enjoyed their festival vibe, I knew I had to be there when it was announced they’d be in my area… and apparently so did everyone else, because the show was SOLD OUT days in advance. Their “Water is Life Tour” was on it’s 6th date when I saw Medicine and their opener, Joseph, in Phoenix. This line-up of band members was completely different from what i’d seen before, and I was pretty intrigued by how the show would go. Percussion player Hope and Bassist Dustin Thomas were in absence with only bass being filled in by their good friend, Pato. There was seemingly no rough adjustment for the group, and Pato actually brought a unique variable of energy to their sound.

Setlist: SOLO<Aloha<Risk<Verge<Thankful< 7 Feathers< SOLO/wPato<Warrior People<Wash it all Away<Black as the Night

During Nahko’s routine solo, he was accompanied Pato playing a strange african instrument called the Kora. The two sounds of the piano and the Kora resonated nicely with Nahko’s voice creating a melodious landscape unlike any other. A very fun surprise that the crowd automatically responded to, and exactly the sort of experience that makes a Nahko show a can’t-miss.
This tour is a MUST SEE if they come through your area, and I’m very appreciative to have been there to share my photos with you!]]>
