I immediately connected her with a group called SUB-ID I saw opened for STS9 back in 2006. I recalled the raw talent that flowed from this bassist back then and suddenly the new dawn of STS9 began to creep into my consciousness and this glimmer of hope signified a breath of new life to an old flame. I got a chance to see Sound Tribe twice earlier this year and while they sounded good, I was unimpressed with their mojo. The collective sound that this group produces is anchored by their comfort level and ability to connect with their audience. It just wasn’t there, at least not yet. But then I took the journey to our Mecca, Red Rocks…. So, I am not going to do what you think I am going to do and give you a play by play of the STS9 shows at Red Rocks. Mostly because I already wrote about that HERE and I would hate to be redundant. Instead, I just wanted to express my happiness that this band is back and better than I have ever seen them play. I am extremely impressed with the dynamics that Alana Rocklin brings to the group and even more impressed with the evolved direction this band is exploring, not to mention Saxton Waller’s impressive new light rig that is completely mind blowing. An Axe the Cables set needs to be a bucket list item for every Summer Camper, along with a trip to Red Rocks!]]>
