John Butler Trio has been hitting the live music scene hard for quite some time now. Originally from Australia, this threesome has consistently sold out venues across the US. Their most recent studio release “Fresh & Blood” has taken the world by storm with it’s hard hitting lyrics and stripped down structures. After all, John Butler is a true artist through and through where his music is a consecrated expression of his soul. The trio is especially known for being consciously aware of the world around them and are committed to the environmental and political issues that plague Australia. The addition of JBT to the Summer Camp lineup is more than welcomed because this group is the real deal, making a difference where ever their journey takes them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBdSPwY2VBU Xavier Rudd is another Australian who has yet to grace the stages of Summer Camp Music Festival. Usually known for his one man band type of performance, this time around he will be joined by a diverse backup band appropriately named The United Nations. Much like the John Butler Trio, Xavier Rudd has infused his music with socially conscious themes. The union of his voice and his lyrics produces a power that is undeniably penetrating. Though Rudd is known to play many instruments at once (including an Aboriginal wind instrument called the didgeridoo), he has now tapped a variety of musicians from all over the world to show just how universal his message really is. This orgy of influences is guaranteed to please any music lover’s ears! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZk-EhCevm0 Trampled By Turtles is a five piece bluegrass group based out of Minnesota. Over the past decade they have spread their seed at many festivals all over the USA so it’s surprising this group hasn’t consummated their Summer Camp relationship sooner, especially with the fest being so close to home! TBT has been making waves within the deep sea of bluegrass with their limitless catalog and unique interpretation of what bluegrass is all about. Not only do they consistently present the orgasmic sounds of a powerful all strings band, their high energy sets are surprisingly intimate no matter how large their audience. I guarantee Trampled By Turtles will be more than just a hit it and quit it addition to the Summer Camp lineup and, needless to say, I’m thrilled the fest has finally nailed this group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjdkc14-zwQ Obviously, this latest announcement was just a tease of the full artist roster. Summer Camp has been bringing new, exciting acts to Three Sisters Park since the very beginning. For the 15 anniversary of the festival, the three groups mentioned above will be joined by many more Summer Camp virgins like Nth Power and Way Down Wanderers, so keep your ears and eyes pealed for many more new artists in the months to come!]]>
