A loner, disillusioned wanderer, an explorer in search of adventure and heartbreak are just some of the many faces of Caroline Rose. The songs of America Religious, the debut album by the up-and-coming songwriter, reflect the stories and imagery from years of travels, and take a look into the daily lives of citizens throughout the country. Together the vignettes create a collage of contemporary American society that bares both its beauty and its ugliness at once.
The child of two artists––a Southern mother and a Yankee father––Rose’s music and lyricism are found deeply rooted in styles ranging from Southern rock and blues to Appalachian folk and honky tonk. Never limited to one genre, Rose prides herself in following a long line of songwriters known for spontaneous and free-spirited adventure, unafraid to speak the truth.
